Roof Inspections & Drone Surveys

We fly a drone over your roof and show you what it sees. Slipped slates, cracked ridge tiles and tired flashing, found without scaffolding or ladders.

See the Whole Roof Before Anyone Climbs On It

A cracked slate halfway up the back pitch won’t show from the pavement, and neither will lead that has started to lift behind the chimney. Most people find out when a ceiling stains.

Our drone surveys capture the whole roof in high-resolution photos and video, and we go through the footage with you on the day. Nothing goes up for the survey. If something needs fixing you’ll see exactly where it is before we price anything, and if the roof is sound we’ll say so.

What We Offer

Drone Roof Surveys

Photos and video of every slope, ridge and chimney. One visit.

Pre-Winter Roof Checks

Caught in autumn, before the gales.

Storm Damage Assessments

After high winds we check what has moved, photograph the damage and tell you how urgent it is.

Insurance Evidence

Images your insurer can use.

Leak Tracing

When water shows up indoors, the survey narrows down where it is getting in so the repair goes in the right place.

Chimney & Flashing Checks

Chimney stacks are the hardest part of a roof to see from the ground and the leak source we find most often, so the drone spends longer on them than anywhere else.

The Proof is on the Roof

What the Drone Picks Up

A camera overhead reaches the places a ladder inspection struggles with. We can look straight down into valleys, follow the ridge along its full length and see behind chimney stacks, including the rear pitches that face away from the street.

On Preston’s Victorian terraces that often turns up slipped Welsh slates and failed mortar on shared chimneys. The 1930s semis of Fulwood and Penwortham tend to show porous concrete tiles and ridge bedding that has cracked away. Dormers, bay roofs and flat roofs over extensions get the same close look.

You keep the images afterwards, which helps if you want to compare quotes or need evidence for an insurance claim.

When an Inspection Makes Sense

Buying a house is the obvious one. A standard homebuyer survey rarely gets anyone onto the roof, so a proper look before you exchange can save an expensive surprise in your first winter.

Then there’s autumn. A blocked valley or a slipped tile is a small job in October and a far bigger one after two months of gales. Our winter roof guide covers what you can check yourself first.

Plenty of inspections start with a worry instead, usually something small that you can’t quite explain and don’t want to ignore. A damp patch that keeps coming back. Or a slate on the drive after a windy night. If you’re not sure how serious it is, an inspection answers the question quickly, and when the damage is urgent our emergency roof repair service takes over.

After the Inspection

Most of what we find is small. A few slates, a length of flashing, a valley that needs clearing. Those go through our roof repair service, and the quote comes with the images that show why the work is needed. You’re welcome to take both to another roofer for a second opinion.

Sometimes the footage shows a roof near the end of its life. When that happens we’ll talk it through honestly and price re-roofing alongside the repairs, so you can compare the two. Our new roof cost guide gives a sense of the numbers.

We carry out roof inspections across Preston, Chorley, Leyland and the surrounding towns.

No. The drone does the looking, so nothing goes up and nobody walks on your tiles. Scaffolding only comes into it if the survey finds work that needs it, and plenty of repairs can be done from a tower or access equipment instead.

The flight itself takes minutes on a typical house. Most of the visit is spent going through the footage with you, so allow a little extra time if you want to look at it properly.

The drone check is part of our free quote visit when you’re looking at repair work. If you need a standalone report, for a house purchase for example, call us and we’ll give you a price up front.

Yes. Clear images taken soon after a storm are exactly what insurers ask for. We can pair them with a short written summary of the damage for you to send in with the claim. Our storm damage guide explains what insurers look for.

Then we tell you. Plenty of inspections end with a clean report and a reminder to clear the gutters before winter.
